Stratos was first introduced in 1974 by Shulton,
of Old Spice. Shulton was sold to American Cyanamid in 1970.
Since Old Spice had been around for fifty
years.it was decided it was time to release a more
modern scent in an upscale fragrance Originally
designed as a fragrance for women, Blue Stratos
was instead marketed to men. A 12 million
dollar Blue Stratos "Unleash the Spirit" advertising campaign launched its introduction
and it was an immediate success. Upon smelling it
on men, women began to "borrow" it. This led
to it later being labeled as a unisex cologne. Shulton
again in 1990 to Proctor and Gamble.
P&G kept the Old Spice brand but sold off Blue Stratos by Shulton.
A classic fougere cologne with an interplay of lavender
and oak moss. At the heart of the Blue Stratos scent
lies a powerful, fresh accord of citrus and lavender. As
the subtle theming develops, it reveals spicy notes of
basil and anis complimented by geranium. Then finally
comes the unique signature
with base notes of oak moss, sandalwood, and cedarwood
blended with a special accord of musk and vanilla.
